Reducing emissions

In this context, DEKRA joined the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” back in 2022. The expert organization now has the target of an absolute emissions reduction of 46.2 percent in Scope 1 and Scope 2 and 27.5 percent in Scope 3 by 2030 - in each case compared to the base year 2019. In Scope 1 and 2, the conversion of fossil energy consumption in buildings and the vehicle fleet will continue to play a decisive role for DEKRA. In Scope 3, it is the supply chain, business travel and employee commuting that cause the majority of emissions.
If we take a closer look at the DEKRA Group's greenhouse gas footprint in the individual emissions categories, we can see a significant reduction in Scope 1 and 2 between 2019 and 2023. In Scope 1, emissions from heating energy consumption (excluding district heating) and the vehicle fleet fell from 43,357 to 38,383 tons CO2e. In Scope 2, emissions from electricity and district heating procurement fell from 34,840 to 18,773 tons CO2e. In Scope 3, there was an increase from 382,045 to 403,098 tons CO2e in the same period.
