DEKRA is also constantly striving to optimize its environmental footprint in the area of business travel and the vehicle fleet. By prioritizing the use of virtual meeting technologies, giving preference to low-emission business trips and gradually converting the vehicle fleet to zero-emission drive technologies, great progress has already been made here. Between 2019 and 2023, the absolute carbon emissions from business travel for the entire DEKRA Group fell from 34,201 to 28,647 tons CO2e. In relative terms, emissions fell from 10 tons of CO2e per million euros of turnover to 7 tons of CO2e per million euros of turnover in the same period.

As far as DEKRA's fleet management is concerned, a Group-wide company car guideline provides the framework: Since 01.01.2024, no vehicles with >0 g CO2/km (WTLP) may be added to the fleet, except in justified exceptional cases. For 2024, only a maximum of 30% of newly added vehicles may fall under the exception. Irrespective of the new directive, positive effects are already visible in the vehicle fleet. In fact, DEKRA has significantly expanded its electric fleet in recent years. In 2023, the company car fleet of the entire DEKRA Group generated emissions of 945 kilograms CO2e per employee, compared to 1,383 kilograms CO2e in 2019.
