For DEKRA, sustainable action has not been a flash in the pan for years, but a continuously evolving process. This is also reflected in DEKRA's numerous activities in Portugal. In 2022, for example, the lighting in the vehicle inspection stations was replaced with LED lamps, which led to a reduction in energy consumption of around 60 percent. In addition, the internal work processes at the various locations have been digitalized to a large extent, which has resulted in significantly lower paper consumption.
In addition, the diesel vehicles in the fleet have been gradually replaced by plug-in hybrid vehicles since 2023. These can be charged with solar energy thanks to the photovoltaic modules installed on the buildings. Finally, an energy transition project adopted in 2024 also includes the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles at the 16 locations in the country. This will save 285 tons carbon per year. The portfolio also includes sustainability training and wellness offers for employees.
