construction project

To explore the potential of reusing steel profiles from demolition projects and thus promote the circular economy, DEKRA Sweden launched a remarkable pilot project together with SWECO and Tibnor in 2022. The steel from the demolition of the hovercraft terminal in Malmö was given a new lease of life at the Henriksdal wastewater treatment plant in Stockholm. With success: compared to the purchase of new steel, a climate saving of 97 percent can be achieved. The joint project to conserve natural resources and avoid carbonemissions in the construction sector was immediately highly recognized:

At the Recycling Gala 2023 in Stockholm, it received an award in the category “Sustainable Construction Project of the Year”. DEKRA's assignment included the inspection, quality testing andclassification of the existing steel.
