Exchange
with Politics and Associations

In 2023, DEKRA consistently continued its political commitment with a focus on safety and sustainability. Through its Group representative offices in Brussels and Berlin in particular, the company is in continuous close contact with the responsible decision-makers, for example at the EU Commission or the German Federal Government, supports sustainable political decisions and advocates the highest possible standards in all areas relevant to safety on the road, at work and at home, for example in the form of position papers and statements. These include, for example, the establishment of legally binding safety and testing standards for vehicles, industrial plants and other areas relating to connected devices, cyber security, the circular economy and smart mobility. Other relevant legislative processes relate to topics such as the Data Act, the AI Act and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.

DEKRA also contributes its independent expertise to numerous industry associations. In the TIC Council, for example, the expert organization deals primarily with the topics of “Product Testing/Certification”, “Industrial Life Cycle Services” and “Environmental, Social & Government”. As a member of the “ERTICO - ITS Europe” network, DEKRA strives to help shape intelligent, safe and sustainable mobility together with other partners. The company is also a member of the hydrogen association Hydrogen Europe, the International Motor Vehicle Inspection Committee (CITA) and the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). In 2023, DEKRA also joined the Green NCAP program as a new member, thereby committing to the development of vehicles that are clean, energy-efficient and as environmentally friendly as possible. DEKRA always takes its high standards of integrity and compliance into account in all political, association and committee-specific activities.

"As a Senior Advisor at the DEKRA Corporate Representation in Berlin, I work at the interface between the DEKRA Group and political institutions. Our mission is to ensure that regulatory frameworks, for instance in the area of our sustainability services, align with our business models. This means that we address the legal frameworks in advance, before actually delivering our services. In this regard, we closely collaborate with the corporate representation team in Brussels—since European legislation is subsequently implemented at the national level."
