DEKRA ensures that fundamental sustainability standards are strictly adhered to throughout the Group and that the requirements are consistently implemented in all departments, regardless of hierarchical level. This applies in particular to procurement and the supply chain, as well as with regard to human rights. The commitment to this increases the credibility and trustworthiness of the expert organization and makes it a sought-after contact for decision-makers, organizations and institutions at an international level.

For DEKRA as a global player in the TIC industry, sustainability is of profound importance in all business areas. Responsibility for this lies with Group Sustainability Management, which reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This central team in turn works closely with the regional sustainability managers of the expert organization to ensure that the relevant sustainability measures are implemented in all DEKRA regions.

The Sustainability Management department continuously develops the sustainability strategy, with the Group Executive Board also actively involved in updating the strategy and following it up objectively. Monitoring and operational management are carried out in coordination with the specialist departments, regular discussions with the Chief Financial Officer in particular, as well as with the entire Executive Board, ensure that coordination at the highest level is guaranteed. In 2023, DEKRA's sustainability strategy was also further integrated into corporate governance and operational processes.

At the same time, the company uses a reliable system of performance indicators to manage sustainability in its four areas of Environment & Climate, Employees & Society, Management & Governance and Supply & Value Chain. The company also offers a wide range of incentives to actively promote sustainable behavior and improvements - over and above remuneration, target agreements and a high level of management awareness. For example, DEKRA Ideas Management, DEKRA Innovation Management and various local initiatives in the respective DEKRA regions serve this purpose.
